RIT sometimes comes off as a cold, miserable place, but it has it’s pluses. RIT has the worst guy to girl ratio around.

It is internationally known for its science, computer, engineering, and art programs, as well as for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a leading deaf-education institution that provides educational opportunities to more than 1000 deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

RIT admissions is somewhat selective with an acceptance rate of 71%. Students that get into RIT have an average SAT score between 1220-1410 or an average ACT score of 27-32. The regular admissions application deadline for RIT is January 1.

Is RIT worth the money?

Based on its academic reputation and relatively low cost, we consider RIT a high value school, placing it in the top 20% of schools in terms of value. RIT is not ivy league. It’s a top tier technical university that places you into your field from day one. RIT ranks in various places depending upon majors.

Are RIT students happy?

It feels welcoming and fun. However, not everyone is happy here – that’s kind of up to you to decide. Some people don’t like the vibes, some people don’t like the work, the buildings, etc. When I visited (granted, I was lucky enough to visit – no corona for me) I felt immediately like it was the right place for me.

Why is RIT so expensive?

RIT is very expensive because of the immense amount of things going on. You will feel a bit robbed because most of your money will go towards things you will never use.

Is RIT a fun school?

Rochester Institute of Technology is not a party school. The students that go there want to learn and succede in life, not spend weekends drinking and playing games. Any student who is searching for a party school or a generally sociable crowd of people to engage with may be better off finding a different school.
